Round 1 and 2 training have been completed at the station using the paperless system of assessment for the theory component of the training. The Learning Management System that is hosting the paperless training has been well received with the only glitch being with the initial log in by the team members.
Surface Rescue Challenge
The planning of Surface Rescue Challenges are well under way with the Southern Rescue Challenge being held at Commodore Mine on Saturday the 28th of July. The Northern Regional Challenge will be on the Saturday the 1st September. We are still looking for a host mine where the challenge can be facilitated.
Any mines wanting to send a team or for more information on the Challenges, please contact Mark Freeman on 0419791601 or mfreeman@qmrs.com.au.
Surface Emergency Response Training
Surface skills maintenance training continues this month at Dawson, Oaky Creek, Yarrabee, Millennium and Kestrel. Sessions at present are Firefighting, Breathing Apparatus, and Vertical Rescue.
Training has also begun at CS Energy Callide Power Station, their ERT skills mirror very closely the Certificate III that we offer and the training flow has been seamless.
Recruit courses have been conducted for Fire Team Operation, Breathing Apparatus and Pump Operation at Blackwater with team members from Yarrabee, Millennium and Dawson Mines attending. The mix of operations has made for a great mix and comradery within the group.
There is a growing call for multi mine recruit training where there are not numbers to facilitate a course such as topping up the existing mines rescue members. If you would like information on options and dates, please contact Mark Freeman on 0419791601 or mfreeman@qmrs.com.au.
Below are the next scheduled courses that are being conducted in Blackwater:
- Road Crash Rescue May 10-14 and 17-21
- Vertical Rescue July 5-9 and 12-16
- Confined Space Entry and Rescue/Hazmat Sep 13-16 and 20-23
