Underground Mines Rescue Training
Planning is in place for the second underground new recruit course to be held at the Blackwater station. At present the course is open to Kestrel, Ensham and Oaky North. The course dates are 7th through to the 25th of August.
Open Cut Challenge
Important date change for the Open Cut Challenge in the southern and northern regions. The Southern Region Challenge at New Acland is scheduled for the 19th of October while the Northern Region Challenge will be held at the Dysart Station on the 21st of September.

Open Cut Emergency Response Training
Open Cut skills maintenance training continues this month at Dawson, Oaky Creek, Yarrabee, Foxleigh and Kestrel. Sessions at present are heavy vehicle extrication, vertical rescue and advanced first aid.
Pain Point: Mine operations are being affected by releasing high numbers of staff to complete recruit course training. Training providers need minimum numbers to make a course viable and realistic for the participant.
Answer: Reduce the impact on your operation by tapping into the wider open cut community. The low impact option is to plan ahead and send less people to a scheduled QMRS course, accessing the weight of numbers from other open cut sites to make courses exciting and effective. Utilising the QMRS training venues and equipment gives realistic and stimulating scenarios and removes the potential of damage to site emergency response equipment.
QMRS Cert III courses are scheduled throughout the year to meet the needs of the industry in training emergency response personal to the highest standards through the quality training material, skilled practitioners as trainers and structured training courses.
