In April a number of us went and completed the QFES AIIMS course to ensure that QMRS MEMS literature is current and up to date.
Another successful MEMS course was held in May with SIMTARS and attendees from Grosvenor Mine, Oaky North, North Goonyella, Broadmeadow and Kestrel.
Well underway is the running of the GICCS course for Glencore, with the first Open Cut GICCS course run at Rolleston in May and back to back courses at Clermont last week of June. The first proposed Open Cut MEMS Course is planned to be run at the end of August.
The Gas Book is currently with SIMTARS, hopefully to be released post EK Healy. The Statutory Gas Ticket will also be reviewed under the guidance from the Board of Examiners.
Competition planning is well underway with 6 teams from the QMRS Cup being invited to the EK Healy in August at Dysart Station.
Congratulations to North Goonyella winning the QMRS Cup and with the assistance of Cain Oldfield being released from the Moranbah North Team to make up the #7 man, with Moranbah North Mine finishing second and Broadmeadow Mine third.
Thanks again to Anglo American Grosvenor Mine for running a successful day.
Recently as some of you are aware, I completed a journey in raising much required funds for cancer riding my bicycle from Alice Springs to Darwin, (over 1500km in 8 days). This journey completed the adventure carried over from last year where we rode from Adelaide to Uluru – “up the guts” is now done and dusted.
