Trials have been conducted on the XAM 7000 to investigate the use and validity of using a water trap in conjunction with the hood and dust filter on the unit. About half of our gas detectors were utilised in the testing with positive results being found for the potential introduction of this new addition to our atmospheric monitoring. Further information is being gathered from the OEM at this stage and team members will be kept up to date with any advances as we move forward.
As discussed in our last newsletter, from a departmental audit it was requested that we investigate the ability to segregate our operational oxygen cylinders while in the mine site substations. The cabinets are now under construction and will be installed in each of the substations over the coming months. This will help to prevent the cylinders being used without authorisation and to keep them separated from training cylinders in the event that day release training is being conducted onsite.
The team is well under way in the preparation of equipment for the Australian Competition to be held in Narrabri in October. We would like to wish all competing teams the best of luck on the day.
