May and June were full operational runs for MIU Teams 1 and 2 which also included commissioning for the new GE engine configuration.  Noise surveys were conducted on all 3 engines to give us a guide on hearing protection requirements.  This survey led to a drawing showing levels around engines and our parameter and what hearing protection is required.

MIU Teams 1 and 2 carried out rigorous series of afterburner trials while MIU Team 3 put engine 2 through a separate range of tests as well.  Over the last few months we have seen a number of operators successfully complete training and been passed out on the new control panel competency.

MIU Team 4 got their first look at running the new GE engine and it was quite an eye opener for most, being the first time the start button was pushed on this engine.  This engine has a completely different start cycle and sound on start-up and will take a little getting used to.

The modified afterburner was given a fair work out and passed most tests.  A couple of fine adjustments need to be made and will be followed up with more testing to be undertaken in the near future.
