Open Cut Coal Mine Emergency Response Team Training Program

The open cut emergency response team (ERT) course provides the skills and knowledge required by ERT members to respond to a wide range of emergency incidents at coal mine sites, using hose and foam firefighting equipment, pumper, breathing apparatus, ropes and extrication equipment to safely and efficiently extricate persons and recover mine assets from elevated areas, confined spaces, fires, hazardous materials spills and mine vehicle accidents.  Course content is contextualised to the open cut coal mine environment.

The complete open cut ERT training package is delivered at Blackwater.  Selected modules within the course can also be trained at any mine site, if the required resources are available.  Students that successfully complete the ERT training program are eligible for a Certificate III in ERR qualification through the QMRS external RTO.
