| Following a review of the Mines Rescue Competitions and resulting in the recognition of the many trophies over the past years and bringing mines rescue in line with a whole of state organisation, the "QMRS Memorial Cup" will be the feature of the first round of competitions. |

| The competition will have 8 mines rescue teams competing for the cup, with the top four teams going on to compete in the second round of competition for the EK Healy Cup. The EK Healy top four winners from last year get to defend their position with the four place getters from the Memorial Cup. The top four place getters from round two go on to compete at the national Competition. |

| The National competition will be run in Qld this year. Queensland took out the top three places in the National in 2004- can we do it again? |
